Top Tips

• Sow in the autumn and overwinter to keep bare soil covered and weed free in early spring.
• Cut down and dig in, allowing the green matter to break down for several weeks before replanting with vegetables or flowers for the new season.
• Water daily, preferably in the evening until seedlings appear, and then as required depending on weather conditions.
• Protect young plants from pests, particularly slugs.
