Prunus Morello
Prunus cerasus 'Morello' is the classic sour cherry, a hardy, deciduous tree prized for heavy crops of tart, dark-red cherries ideal for pies, jams and preserving. In spring it carries masses of white blossom before the foliage, and fruits ripen later in the season. It is self-fertile, so a single tree will produce a good crop. Grow in full sun in fertile, well-drained soil with shelter from strong winds; an excellent choice for kitchen gardens, small orchards and productive borders that also enjoy spring blossom interest.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
