MAHONIA media Charity

A bold, evergreen shrub valued for reliable winter interest, MAHONIA media Charity carries long, upright sprays of fragrant, yellow flowers from late autumn into early spring, followed by blue-black berries. Its large, glossy, spiny, pinnate leaves provide strong architectural structure in shade, making it superb for woodland-style and north/east-facing borders or as a stand-out specimen. Grow in moist but well-drained, moderately fertile soil; it tolerates clay, chalk and sandy conditions, and benefits from shelter from cold, drying winds. Ultimate size typically reaches 2–4m over time with a moderate growth rate.
