A deciduous multi-stemmed shrub which is grown for its brightly coloured young stems which are appear to be 'on fire' in winter. The new leaves are mid-green and turn deep red in autumn. There are clusters of tiny white flowers in summer. The winter stems are yellow-orange and tipped with red twigs. Best winter colour occurs on young stems.
