Chamaecyparis obtusa ‘Nana Gracilis’ is a slow-growing, compact Hinoki cypress forming a dense, conical shape with beautifully layered, glossy dark-green fan-like sprays. An evergreen that brings year-round structure, it’s ideal as an architectural focal point in smaller gardens and suits Japanese-style schemes. Grow in full sun to light shade, in moist but well-drained, fertile, slightly acidic soil, and provide a sheltered spot away from cold, drying winds. Minimal pruning is needed; simply remove any misplaced shoots. Ultimately reaches around 2–4m over many years.
