BETULA JACQUEMONTII
Betula utilis var. jacquemontii (Himalayan birch) is a graceful, medium-to-large deciduous tree celebrated for its gleaming white, peeling bark that brings outstanding year-round structure and winter interest. Fresh green leaves clothe the canopy in spring and summer, turning clear yellow in autumn; spring catkins add seasonal detail. It grows best in full sun or light shade in moist but well-drained, moderately fertile soil, and is tolerant of a range of soil textures. Ideal as a specimen or planted in groups for architectural effect, and suitable for exposed or sheltered sites; a mature tree typically exceeds 12m with a moderate spread.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
