Bay Standard 3/4 SPIRAL Stem Crown 45/50cm Pot 25cm
Laurus nobilis is the classic evergreen bay tree valued for its aromatic, glossy green leaves used in cooking, and for its suitability to clipping into formal shapes such as standards and spirals. Slow-growing and long-lived, it thrives in full sun or light shade in fertile, well-drained soil and a sheltered position. In spring it bears small yellow-green flowers; on female plants these may be followed by small black berries if pollinated. Ideal for containers at entrances or patios, and equally effective in formal, architectural planting schemes. Lightly trim in summer to maintain a crisp outline and protect from cold, drying winds in severe weather, especially when container-grown.
This is a standard tree with a clear stem and a shaped crown above. The tree was grown up to this stem height and then pruned to stop the trunk growing taller. The clear stem will remain at the height you receive it at, with future growth coming from the top of the tree.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
