Acer palm. Bi hoo
Acer palmatum 'Bi-hoo' is a small, upright Japanese maple prized for its coloured winter stems, which show warm yellow to orange tones, and for reliable seasonal foliage interest. Fresh green leaves in spring and summer turn to rich yellow, orange and red shades in autumn, giving four-season appeal. Grow in moist but well-drained, slightly acidic to neutral soil, in sun or light shade, and provide shelter from cold, drying winds to protect the young shoots and bark. An excellent choice as a focal specimen for smaller gardens where its winter stem colour can be appreciated.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
