Acer pal Osakazuki
Acer palmatum 'Osakazuki' is a large, bushy deciduous shrub or small tree valued for its outstanding autumn colour. The deeply lobed green leaves turn brilliant orange-red to scarlet in autumn, and small spring flowers are followed by red winged fruit (samaras). Grow in moist but well-drained, fertile, humus-rich, acid to neutral soil, in sun or light shade with shelter from cold, drying winds to reduce leaf scorch. An excellent specimen for Asian-inspired schemes and structural planting; holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
