A much‑loved, deciduous viburnum with elegant, tiered horizontal branches and flattened lacecap clusters of white flowers in late spring to early summer, typically May to June. Dark green, textured leaves clothe the framework and can develop good autumn colour; flowers are often followed by red berries that darken as they mature. Best in a fertile, humus‑rich, moist but well‑drained soil in sun or light shade; superb as a specimen or in mixed borders and woodland‑edge plantings.
