SALIX CAPREA PENDULA
Salix caprea 'Pendula' is a compact, weeping goat willow prized as a small-space specimen. In early spring it produces soft, silky catkins that open from silvery-grey buds and often turn yellow as pollen appears, providing valuable early forage for bees. Thriving in full sun or light shade and moist to damp, moderately fertile soil, this deciduous tree forms a neat umbrella canopy of green leaves and reaches around 2.5m high and wide in 10–20 years—ideal for confined gardens, courtyards, or as a focal point by water.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
