Miscanthus sin. Red Chief
Miscanthus sin. Red Chief is a clump-forming, deciduous ornamental grass with narrow green foliage and striking, deep red flower plumes held well above the leaves from late summer into autumn, maturing to silvery-tan seedheads for winter interest. Reliable and fully hardy, it performs best in full sun and moderately fertile, well-drained soil with average moisture, providing strong vertical structure and movement for mixed borders and contemporary, architectural schemes; leave the stems standing over winter and cut back in late winter before new growth appears.
