Photinia serrulata 'Red Robin' is a popular evergreen shrub known for its striking red foliage. It is a sought-after plant in the Irish climate due to its visual appeal and adaptability.

Height/Spread: Photinia 'Red Robin' can reach a height of around 10-15 feet (3-4.5 meters) with a spread of 6-8 feet (1.8-2.4 meters). Its upright growth habit and dense foliage make it a great choice for hedges, screens, or as a standalone specimen plant.

Position: This shrub thrives in full sun to partial shade in the Irish climate. It prefers a location that receives at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day for optimal growth. However, it can also tolerate some shade, making it versatile for different garden settings.

Soil: Photinia 'Red Robin' prefers moist, well-draining soil. It thrives in fertile soil that is rich in organic matter. Adequate soil preparation, such as incorporating compost or well-rotted manure, is beneficial to ensure healthy growth.

Flowering Season: While 'Red Robin' is primarily grown for its vibrant foliage, it produces small white flowers in late spring to early summer. These blossoms are followed by red berries in autumn, adding seasonal interest to the plant.

Uses: Photinia 'Red Robin' is widely used in the Irish climate for various purposes. Its dense growth and striking red leaves make it an excellent choice for hedges or screens, providing privacy and adding a pop of color to the landscape. It can also be used as a standalone specimen plant or trained into a small tree. With its year-round appeal, 'Red Robin' is a versatile and visually appealing addition to gardens, parks, and public spaces in Ireland.
