DICENTRA spectabilis
DICENTRA spectabilis is a clump-forming herbaceous perennial admired for its elegant, arching sprays of heart-shaped pink-and-white flowers in spring. Thriving in partial shade and a moist but well-drained, fertile, humus-rich soil, it suits shaded borders and woodland-style plantings and is a classic choice for cottage gardens and for cutting. Reaching about 1m tall and wide over time, it dies down after the season and re-emerges each year. Holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit for reliable performance in Irish gardens.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
