Malus domestica is a hardy, deciduous fruit tree grown for its spring blossom and reliable crops. This classic cooking selection bears green to greenish-yellow fruit with a strong, sharp flavour, ideal for pies and sauces. Blossom is typically white with pink tints in spring, and flowers fall into Pollination Group 3; for reliable crops, plant with a compatible partner from Groups 2, 3 or 4. Harvest in August. Best in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil; fully hardy across the UK.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
