Malus toringo Freja
Malus toringo 'Freja' is a compact ornamental crab apple noted for its profuse spring blossom and reliable seasonal interest. Best grown in full sun to light shade on moist but well‑drained, moderately fertile soil, it makes an excellent small garden tree for borders or lawns and fits well into cottage-style planting. The spring flowers support pollinating insects, and the decorative crab apples that follow are appreciated by birds; it can also serve as a useful pollination partner for nearby apples.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
