Magnolia brookl. Yellow Bird

Magnolia (Brooklynensis Group) 'Yellow Bird' is a deciduous magnolia grown as a specimen tree for its clear yellow, cup-shaped flowers that typically open in late spring to early summer, often after the leaves. It develops an upright to broadly pyramidal framework with green foliage and performs best in a sheltered position with sun or light shade. Plant in a moisture-retentive but well-drained, humus-rich soil that is neutral to acidic; avoid chalky conditions. Minimal pruning is needed beyond removing dead or crossing wood; mulching in spring helps conserve soil moisture and promote steady growth.
