Acer pal. Garnet
Acer palmatum 'Garnet' is a graceful, slow-growing Japanese maple valued for its finely dissected, garnet-red leaves that hold rich colour through the season before glowing in autumn. Best grown in a sheltered Irish garden spot out of cold, drying winds, it prefers a moisture-retentive, humus-rich, slightly acidic, well-drained soil. Excellent as a specimen for architectural impact and for Asian-inspired planting, it forms a low, spreading small tree with cascading branches and superb seasonal foliage interest.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
