Leptospermum scoparium 'Kiwi,' commonly known as Kiwi Tea Tree or Manuka 'Kiwi,' is an enchanting evergreen shrub that thrives in the Irish climate. It is highly valued for its unique foliage and delicate flowers, making it a sought-after choice among gardeners in Ireland.

Height/Spread: Leptospermum scoparium 'Kiwi' typically grows to a height of 4-6 feet (120-180 centimeters) with a spread of 3-4 feet (90-120 centimeters). Its compact and bushy growth habit makes it suitable for smaller gardens or container planting in the Irish climate.

Position: This variety of Leptospermum prefers a sunny or partially shaded position in Irish gardens. It can tolerate coastal conditions, making it ideal for seaside gardens. While it is hardy, it benefits from sheltered locations in areas with strong winds.

Soil: Leptospermum scoparium 'Kiwi' thrives in well-draining soil that is slightly acidic to neutral. It can adapt to various soil types, including sandy or loamy soils. However, ensuring good drainage is important to prevent waterlogging.

Flowering Season: 'Kiwi' produces an abundance of vibrant flowers in late spring to early summer, adding a splash of color to Irish gardens during the warmer months. The flowers are typically pink, resembling delicate tea tree blossoms and attracting pollinators to the garden.

Uses: Leptospermum scoparium 'Kiwi' has several uses in Irish gardens. It is commonly used as a striking ornamental shrub, providing year-round visual interest with its unique foliage and colorful flowers. It can be grown as a standalone specimen plant, as part of mixed borders, or in coastal gardens due to its tolerance for salt spray. Additionally, the leaves of this tea tree variety are aromatic and can be used for herbal tea infusions, adding a culinary aspect to its versatility.
