Camellia sas. Pink
Camellia sasanqua is an elegant evergreen shrub valued for glossy green foliage and a welcome flush of blossom from autumn into early winter. In Ireland it thrives in acid, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil, in sun or light shade with shelter from cold, drying winds. Flowers are often lightly scented and borne over several weeks, making this a fine choice for a focal shrub, training against a warm wall, or growing in a large container of ericaceous compost. In time, plants can reach around 2–4m, depending on site and pruning.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
