ABIES Koreana 'Silberlocke' or Korean Fir 'Silberlocke' is a stunning conifer with curled up green needles with silver undersides. It produces cylindrical cones, bleish-purple when young. This Korean fir has been awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit.

Height/Spread: ABIES Koreana 'Silberlocke' typically reaches a height of 6 meters and a  spread of 10 metersand is therefore best suited to medium to large-sized gardens. It is slow-growing.

Position: The Korean fir thrives in full sun to partial shade, making it adaptable to different light conditions in Irish gardens. It can be positioned in areas that receive at least a few hours of direct sunlight per day.

Soil: The Korean fir prefers well-draining soil that is neutral to acid. It is essential to ensure the soil is adequately prepared and amended with ericaceous soil or compost where needed to provide optimal growing conditions and achieve the preferred pH of the soil.

Flowering Season: ABIES Koreana 'Silberlocke' produces cones in Summer, borne blueish-purple maturing to brown in Autumn. 

Uses: ABIES Koreana 'Silberlocke' is best grown as a feature in the garden, either as a stand alone, architectural specimen or surronded by low-growing shrubs and perennials such as the black mondo grass, the campanula or other alpines that will complement the silver hues of this conifer. It is alos a good specimen to add to the wildlife garden as it will provide food for the birds during the cold months (cones).
