Salvia greggii 'Joy' is a compact perennial herbaceous plant that belongs to the Lamiaceae family. It is commonly known as Autumn Sage and is a popular ornamental plant in gardens due to its vibrant flowers and attractive foliage. In the Irish climate, Salvia greggii 'Joy' can thrive if provided with suitable growing conditions.

Height/Spread: This variety of Salvia greggii typically reaches a height of 30-60 cm (12-24 inches) and has a spread of about 45-60 cm (18-24 inches). It forms a compact, bushy habit.

Position: Salvia greggii 'Joy' prefers a sunny position in the garden. It thrives in locations that receive full sun for most of the day. Ensure it is sheltered from strong winds, as they can damage the delicate foliage.

Soil: It thrives in well-drained soil that is moderately fertile. The soil should be slightly acidic to neutral. Good drainage is crucial to prevent waterlogging, which can lead to root rot.

Flowering Season: Salvia greggii 'Joy' produces an abundance of colorful flowers from late spring to fall. The blooms are typically tubular and come in shades of red, pink, or coral. The flowering period may vary slightly depending on local climate conditions.

Uses: Salvia greggii 'Joy' is primarily cultivated for its ornamental value. It is well-suited for borders, rock gardens, and containers, adding vibrant color to the landscape. The flowers also attract pollinators like bees and butterflies, making it beneficial for wildlife gardens.

Please note that while Salvia greggii 'Joy' can thrive in the Irish climate, it is always advisable to consider specific regional variations and microclimates within Ireland to ensure optimal growth and performance.
