Molinia arundinacea 'Skyracer,' commonly known as Skyracer Moor Grass, is an ornamental grass that thrives in the Irish climate. It is a popular choice among gardeners in Ireland for its graceful, upright growth habit and striking appearance.

Height/Spread: Molinia arundinacea 'Skyracer' typically reaches a height of 4-5 feet (120-150 centimeters) with a spread of 2-3 feet (60-90 centimeters). Its tall, slender stems create an elegant vertical accent in gardens and landscapes.

Position: This moor grass variety thrives in full sun to partial shade, making it adaptable to various positions in Irish gardens. It prefers well-drained soil but can tolerate some moisture, making it suitable for both dry and damp locations.

Soil: Molinia arundinacea 'Skyracer' grows well in a wide range of soil types, including clay, loam, and sandy soils. It can adapt to both acidic and alkaline soil conditions, making it versatile for Irish gardens with different soil compositions.

Flowering Season: Skyracer Moor Grass produces tall, airy flower spikes in summer, which gradually turn golden-yellow in color, adding a dramatic touch to the landscape. The flowering season extends into autumn, providing interest and structure to Irish gardens during the latter part of the year.

Uses: Molinia arundinacea 'Skyracer' has multiple uses in Irish gardens. Its tall, slender form makes it an excellent choice for adding vertical interest or creating a focal point in borders and beds. It also works well in naturalistic or prairie-style plantings, where its elegant grassy texture adds movement and visual appeal. Additionally, this ornamental grass can be utilized in mass plantings or used as a backdrop for other flowering perennials, bringing a touch of sophistication and elegance to Irish landscapes.
