Leucothoe Zeblid
Leucothoe ‘Zeblid’ (often sold as ‘Scarletta’) is a compact, slow-growing evergreen valued for year-round foliage colour: fresh growth emerges red, matures glossy green through summer and turns rich purple-red in winter. In spring it bears small, pendant clusters of white, urn-shaped flowers. Best in acid, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil with partial to full shade, it’s ideal for shaded borders and woodland-style planting where reliable colour and texture are needed. Eventual size around 60–90cm, with similar spread; hardy in most UK regions.
