BETULA PENDULA YOUNGII
Betula pendula 'Youngii' is a compact, deciduous weeping silver birch forming a rounded, umbrella-like crown of gracefully cascading branches. Fresh green leaves provide a light, airy canopy through the growing season, turning yellow in autumn, while the characteristic white bark develops with age to add winter interest. Best grown in full sun in Ireland on moist but well-drained, moderately fertile soil, it is adaptable to a wide range of soil types (including sand, loam, clay and chalk) and is fully hardy. Small catkins appear in spring but are not the main ornamental feature. An excellent architectural specimen for smaller gardens, courtyards, and focal planting.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
