Acer palmatum 'Osakazuki' is a stunning Japanese maple cultivar known for its vibrant autumn foliage.

Height/Spread: 'Osakazuki' typically grows to a height of 15-20 feet (4.5-6 meters) with a spread of 10-15 feet (3-4.5 meters), forming a medium-sized, upright tree.

Position: It thrives in a position that receives partial shade to filtered sunlight. It prefers protection from strong winds and hot afternoon sun, especially in the Irish climate.

Soil: This Japanese maple prefers well-draining, acidic to neutral soil. It thrives in fertile soil with good moisture retention. Adding organic matter can enhance its growth.

Flowering Season: While 'Osakazuki' is primarily appreciated for its foliage, it produces small, inconspicuous reddish-purple flowers in spring. The main attraction, however, lies in its spectacular display of autumn foliage colors, transitioning from vivid green to intense shades of orange-red.

Uses: This cultivar is highly valued for its exceptional autumn foliage. 'Osakazuki' makes a magnificent specimen tree in gardens and landscapes, adding beauty and vibrant color to the scenery. It can also be used as an accent plant or focal point. Its medium size makes it suitable for smaller gardens as well.
