Ceanothus impressus Victoria
A dense, evergreen California lilac with small, glossy dark-green leaves, Ceanothus impressus ‘Victoria’ carries abundant deep blue flower clusters from May to June. Best in full sun and a warm, sheltered spot with well-drained, moderately fertile soil; it dislikes heavy, waterlogged ground and benefits from protection from cold winds. Once established it is drought-tolerant, making a fine wall shrub or focal plant for sunny borders, and it’s highly attractive to bees and other pollinators. Ultimate size around 2–4m over time; prune lightly after flowering to maintain shape.
