Garden fragrance in winter and spring

Let’s introduce some scent in our gardens this Winter/Spring with some of the most scented plants.

Most scented plants will perform best in full sun, such as:

• Daphne
• Jasmine (polyanthum for the winter flowering variety)
• Genista Hispanica (Spanish Gorse)
• Eriostemon (long leaved wax flower)
• Prostanthera cuneata (Mint Bush)
• Lonicera Fragrantissima (Sweetest honeysuckle)
• Erysimum (wallflower)

But some species will reward you with great perfume even in shade:

• Mahonia ( ‘Soft Caress’, flowering in Summer/Autumn, ‘Winter Sun’, Flowering in Winter)
• Primroses
• Skimmias (light and delicate perfume)
• Sarcococca ( Sweet Box)
