For the most reliable display, plant in sun or light shade in fertile, moist but well-drained soil; it is fully hardy and holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit. This climber requires a suitable support to establish and grow, making it ideal for training along sturdy wires, pergolas or arches. It may take several years to begin flowering, but rewards with abundant, fragrant blossom thereafter.
