It thrives in full sun and very well-drained soil, doing best on poor to moderately fertile, light or chalky ground. Ideal for Irish gardens in borders, pots, path edges and Mediterranean-style schemes, it is highly attractive to bees and other pollinators. Once established it copes well with dry conditions and coastal exposure, but it dislikes winter wet—avoid heavy, waterlogged soils.
