Cream-margined, blue‑green leaves form a neat clump, sending up branched stems topped with cone-like flowerheads surrounded by spiny, blue bracts in mid to late summer. Grow in full sun and well-drained, poor to moderately fertile soil; it copes well with light, sandy or chalky ground and summer dryness. Ideal for coastal or exposed sites and sunny gravel plantings, it’s highly attractive to bees and other pollinators and makes long-lasting cut or dried flowers.
