'Seiryu' 1,20\/1,30 24L bowl\u003c\/h2\u003e\n  \u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eAcer palmatum 'Seiryu'\u003c\/strong\u003e is an elegant, upright Japanese maple noted for its finely dissected, lace-like green leaves and graceful, airy canopy. Unlike most cut-leaf forms, ‘Seiryu’ grows vertically to form a shapely small tree, with foliage that turns vibrant shades of yellow, orange and red in autumn. Best in a sheltered position with sun or light shade, it prefers moist but well-drained, humus-rich, slightly acidic to neutral soil and benefits from protection from drying winds to prevent leaf scorch. A superb specimen for containers when young or planted in the ground for long-term structure, it suits Asian-inspired and architectural garden schemes. Minimal pruning is needed; if required, prune when the tree is dormant.
