Deciduous and naturally elegant, it produces soft yellow to yellow-green leaves in spring, maturing through summer before turning vivid orange tones in autumn. Best in light shade and a sheltered spot, it thrives in moisture-retentive but free-draining, fertile soil that is preferably acidic to neutral; avoid chalky conditions.
